I've never timed myself writing before...it was rather surprising to find that I only got six pages in 2 1/2 hours. I suppose that's about average, but considering I can read a full page in a minute or two...I felt a little...strange. Like...cheated somehow. Hm.
But anyway, it was nice to just sit down and write, after all. I started and completed one scene, and finished a previously unfinished scene. Yay, progress. Now all I have to do is make the scenes flow smoothly together...which is certainly not as easy as it sounds. But doesn't everyone have trouble with transitions? Maybe not everyone. But it is a common...concern. Or so I've heard.

EVERYONE has trouble with transitions. and structure. i am glad you liked the process. i got 7 pages and felt very accomplished. i think we did good.

I think 6 pages in 2 and a half hours is a lot. and you can't compare reading and writing, time wise, its sorta like saying you can eat a bag of cookies in ten minutes but it would take 3 hours to run it off. reading you consume whats already been created; writing you create from scratch. nice work.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't so sure about the 'group' writing period either. I thought I would become a bit self conscious of how slow I was writing. I'm glad I didn't. In fact I lost track of time and when I checked an hour into it I couldn't believe how much I'd gotten done.
