Nice one Max. A cast iron pan is such a powerful reminder of my southern heritage. In my village of women, the cast iron skillet is a big deal. You should have learned to "season" it by the time you are 12 and if you haven't, some woman in the village will make sure you do.
Its the one pan/skillet that all southern women have in their kitchen arsenals because it can cook perfect fish, fried chicken, and cornbread.
It's one of a few pans that can go from the stovetop to the oven to the table without a lot of fuss.
It's also what southern women in my family use to straighten the men in their lives -- sons, husbands, lovers :-).
Don't know if your metaphor has anything to do with any of that, but it brought up some great images for me!! Thanks.
I'd love to know what this means; I tend to think of a lot more abstract things when I think of metaphors, so it's interesting to me that you pinpoint a specific, concrete object. Why?
haha short and straight to the point. I have to agree with Elmaz's point...I think you're sneaky lol. You put out your metaphor and let everyone else do the work. lol I love it even if it wasn't meant to be hehehehe. I agree with your metaphor though. I think you're wise beyond your years and strong...resilient. It's weird but I got this feeling from you when I first met you great blog
Cast iron pans can be a lot of things but more than that I think that they are something to everyone. Everyone has something that helps them to identify with this and moreover, its usually food. Food nourishes the body, that thing that makes me stay alive even more than the Bee Gees (whom I hate). I don't know if this is making sense anymore, but I like you cast iron pan.
